Know when the Library is open?

  • Monday: 1-5 & 6-9
  • Tuesday: 10-5
  • Wednesday: Closed
  • Thursday: 1-5 & 6-9
  • Friday: 10-5
  • Saturday: 10-2
  • Sunday: Closed               

   The Library is closed for all major holidays, including but not limited to: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Borrow books and other materials?
   Books, magazines, CDs, CD-ROMs and audio books may be borrowed for 2 weeks.  Videos  & DVDS may be borrowed by adults only (age 16 and older) for 1 week.  The overdue fine for all materials is 5 cents a day to a maximum of $2.00 per item.  Materials may be renewed in person when the Library is open or 24 hours/day by calling the answering machine at 295-7127.  We will need to know your name and the item(s) you wish to renew.

Get a library card?
   To get a bar-coded library card, fill out an application, which is available at the Circulation Desk.  You will need to show some form of photo ID, such as a valid driver's license.  The card can be used at ALL MVLS/SALS libraries in the eight counties of the joint system.

Make a donation to the Library?
    Make your donation to the Schoharie Free Library, c/o Treasurer Margaret Carballeira or drop it off in person.  The Library is a 501(c)(3) institution and gifts are tax-deductible.

Get library materials if I am homebound?
     We have a Homebound Patrons program that was developed to replace the "Books by Mail" program.  For more information, please contact the Library for an information packet and application.

Send or receive a fax?
    
The fax machine is part of the phone/answering machine at the Circulation Desk.  The staff will send your fax for you while you wait.  Copy to be sent must be in a condition acceptable to the equipment, so if we have to make a copy, you will be charged for that copy.  Charges are:
Local number - $1.00
International - $5.00 per page
     To receive a fax, use 518-295-7127 as the number.  Please alert the staff you expect an incoming fax.  We will NOT call you when it arrives; it is your responsibility to pick up your fax.  Charge is $1.00/incoming.
     The Library is not responsible for successful receipt by the destination fax, nor for and data or loss of data arising during the use of its fax equipment.

     To create your free account, log onto http://netlibrary.sals.edu
After creating your account, you can log onto www.netlibrary.org to download eAudiobooks.
  Cardholders can  use their home computers to choose, download and listen to over 1,800 titles from Recorded Books LLC and NetLibrary.  Each title (up to a total of 10 at any one time) can be "checked out" for 21 days, and renewed as many times as needed - with no overdue fines.  These eAudiobooks can also be synced from the computer to a Windows compatible MP3 player.  Sometime in 2009, it is expected that the company will acquire IPod-compatability,

TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT, PLEASE NOTE THAT IPOD-BRAND MP3 PLAYERS DO NOT WORK WITH THIS SERVICE BECAUSE THEY ARE MAC-BASED!
