We had a Question & Answer session with Connie Miller in person at the library. Here is a document with notes taken. The kids played while the parents participated in the discussion. We encourage you to reach out to Connie Miller with any other questions.

We had our first virtual meeting today. We had 11 parents, 4 library staff, and Connie Miller from BOCES. Connie was so excited to put a face to many names and the library staff were happy to introduce themselves. Each family introduced themselves, their children, and some of the challenges they face and some of their approach towards homeschooling. Questions were asked about end of the year assessments and requirements in participating local school districts, standards by grade level and resources for curriculum planning, social events and library offered events. The Schoharie Library expressed interest in hosting a reading group for middle grade students. We advertised Maker Monday, Teen Thursday, Crafts around the World & event calendar. Kathy Stempel, Director at Berne Public Library, advertised Cabin Fever Trivia night and rocket man in the park. We invite you to view their web page for more information on programs or events at bernepubliclibrary.org.
Schoharie Library has, since our meeting, created this Home Educator's Hub website and blog page for your convenience and use. We began with a few of the links we talked about today and welcome feedback on what we may add - leave a comment anytime! We have created a regular meeting schedule with flyers and registration links. We hope you will share the Hub webpage with other families! If you are interested in the Middle Grades (MG) Book group - you can register your child at https://bit.ly/MGBookGroupSHObit.ly/MGBookGroupSHO. We are so thankful for the opportunity to connect everyone today. Please stay connected! Yvonne Keller-Baker Librarian & Library Director [email protected] |
